The local news show out here in LA just had a special report dedicated to DW drums. It was about a 12 minute piece showing how the drums were made, the histroy, and some name drummers sampling. Done very well. According to the segment, it all started with Tommy Lee and his word of advice that got the ball rolling, and rolling fast! Getting into the specific wood choices and why they use what is very interesting.
Good choice!
